Pine House Edible Gardens provides edible landscape design, installation, full-service maintenance & harvesting services and garden coaching – essentially whatever it takes to create a beautiful, edible garden for you.
I work to grow good, clean, organic food for my clients by building and protecting soil on site, planting and pruning for greater yields, and working with the natural ecosystems of your property to produce a productive and beautiful garden.
Consulting, Design & Installation
Create a beautiful and productive outdoor living space.
I specialize in combining elements of your traditional ornamental landscape with an edible and organic “kitchen garden” – working with flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs to develop a strong structure and vibrant aesthetic for your food-producing edible landscape. It’s that much easier to get excited about growing food if you love the way your garden looks! I am a plant specialist and design perfectionist – which means that I like to design and install my own gardens including basic pathway and hardscape installation, soil amendment, irrigation, and planting. If however you prefer to work with an outside contractor to build your garden, that's fine, I'm really happy to design and consult on the construction process. Design and installation rates range from $50-$125/hr.
Our cutting flower garden design and floral arranging services are a key part of your productive landscape! Our gardeners and floral designers will plant, maintain, harvest and arrange seasonal flowers and foliage from your garden, including custom floral designs for special events, such as dinner parties or seasonal gatherings. Some of our special seasonal arrangement include wreaths from ornamental greens and long-lasting blooms. Floral design service rates range from $75-$125/hr.
Seasonal Preserving Services
We regularly work with clients to help preserve seasonal harvests from your garden! Whether you have an abundance of apples, lemons, tomatoes or cabbage, our small-batch food preservation service will help you to treat the food to stop or slow down spoilage, loss of quality, edibility, or nutritional value. This can include making jams, jellies and marmalades, as well as pickles, liqueurs and, of course, canning fresh fruits and vegetables. Our preserving services can be done in your home kitchen, or we can take your harvest with us and bring it back to you in labeled jars. We offer a range of delicious recipes ranging from the traditional to more unique preparations -- or we can use one of your own special family recipes. The rate for preserving service is $75 per hour; this does not include supplies or jars.
Organic Garden Coaching & Maintenance
Keep your garden healthy, productive and beautiful.
I work regularly with both ornamental and edible plants providing organic care for your entire landscape! Pine House vegetable gardeners will visit your garden each week to take care of your fruits and vegetables and bring your harvest directly to your kitchen. Gardeners provide organic care and monthly fertilizing and pruning services for your fruit trees, berries and ornamental plants, including specialized seasonal garden care such as winter and summer pruning. Ongoing weekly or bi-weekly regular garden care rates are $45/hr, by assessment. If you’d prefer less frequent specialized seasonal garden maintenance, we can set up seasonal or quarterly visits based on our regular $50/hr seasonal maintenance rate.
Our beekeeping services begin with supplying and installing your hive equipment and honey bee colony. At each of our routine visits, our beekeeper will provide your bees with any support they may need in order to thrive until our next visit! Our visits average about once a month, but may vary slightly depending on the time of year, your hive’s condition, and other circumstances. Our beekeeper takes action for swarm prevention, provides feedings if necessary, handles disease management, and will add or remove equipment to accommodate the varying seasonal changes in colony size. Email updates will be sent to you after each visit, regarding the strength of your colony, status of the hive, and any disease or issues that we may have identified. We also offer honey harvesting service as part of our bee-keeping work, which can be done in a couple different ways. We can harvest the honey for you and return it to you in labeled jars – or, if you’d prefer to harvest your own honey frames, our beekeeper will remove the frames from the hive for you and leave them in a safe place. Our beekeeping service rate is $75 per hour. There is a $1.00 per jar fee for honey harvesting on top of our hourly rate.
